Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a highly modern and effective technique combining psychotherapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy. It utilises trance to achieve a state of ‘focused attention’ that makes your mind more responsive to beneficial suggestions. Trance, you may be surprised to learn is a a process that we experience several times a day. Have you ever driven along a familiar route and not remembered parts of the journey?

Solution Focused Therapy
Also known as Solution Focused Brief Therapy. This is an approach to psychotherapy based on solution building rather than problem solving. Although I acknowledge present problems and past causes, we will explore your current resources and future hopes – helping you to look forward and use your own strengths to achieve your goals. Working together we can implement these solutions via a series of discussions during our sessions.
There are many different kinds of psychotherapy, but they all aim to help people overcome stressful and emotional problems. Because it involves clients and therapists talking together to overcome difficulties it is often referred to as a ‘talking therapy’.
The type of psychotherapy that I practise is Solution Focused and is designed to reduce anxiety. By focusing on solutions for the future, rather than analysing problems of the past. It’s a collaborative process and providing you are willing to make changes to the way you think, the therapy can be highly effective in relieving the symptoms of anxiety and stress.
Clinical Hypnotherapy is not something that can be done to you as comically portrayed by entertainers and the media. A professional Clinical Hypnotherapist cannot make a person do anything they do not want to. You cannot get stuck in trance, you are fully in control and can leave the state whenever you wish. Hypnosis has been used for hundreds of years and using modern developments in neuroscience we understand how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help us.
Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention. In this relaxed state, your mind is more responsive to suggestion. In a therapeutic setting, the suggestions are designed to be beneficial, to help you change unhelpful thought patterns.
Clients often comment on how “ordinary” Hypnosis feels, as it’s like daydreaming. You can often hear everything that is being said whilst in a deeply relaxed state. You could even think of it as guided daydreaming.
