Why I chose to be a hypnotherapist
In my ‘previous life’, I worked in the airline and travel industry, and then as a chef and teacher. I have always worked in front line consumer facing positions as I love meeting people from all the different demographics of life. Even though I enjoyed developing my career, raising my family was very important to me also. So, I understand and can relate to the stresses placed on working professionals and parents trying to maintain a healthy work life balance. And how quickly life can get on top of you.
While working as a teacher, I was fascinated by how people can grow and develop when learning a new skill. I started to research the science of the mind and was intrigued by the connection between the mind and body. An opportunity arose to study Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and I discovered a powerful therapeutic system. The teacher in me loves the empowering approach that Solution Focused Hypnotherapy offers. Working together with my clients I help them to understand how their brain works with a simple common-sense approach. How it can impact on our lives and how we can learn to cope with what life throws at us. By recognising the problems for what they are and having the tools to overcome them.
The knowledge and positivity that I have received during my training has permeated into my everyday life, helping me with generalized anxiety and confidence issues.
Hypnotherapy has also helped me to successfully conquer my very irrational fear of snakes. If there was a picture of a snake in a book on the table, I wouldn’t have been able to go near the table until it was removed. Once asked, what I would do if I came across a snake in my back garden, my response was to call 999! With the help of hypnotherapy, I now no longer have that fear.
Why I love doing what I do
It is my belief that therapy should produce the results we want without the pain and suffering of past traumas. I love the science that underpins the therapy, which helps my clients to feel safe and comfortable. I love working together with my clients and helping them to achieve their goals in life, increasing their self-esteem and witnessing them feeling more in control and calm about the future. It’s also enjoyable, relaxing and fun. The only side effects are a positive attitude, enjoyment of life, confidence and happiness.
The butterfly’s life is symbolic of growth, change and transformation.
